Series 05 — Heavy duty

2-Inch Manual Ratchet Strap

The Easooty 2-inch manual ratchet strap is the conventional open-loop workhorse of cargo control: a 50 mm polyester webbing strap with a steel ratchet mechanism that locks by engaging teeth, and a handle you operate by hand. Because the lock is positive — metal teeth engaging metal teeth — it stays locked under shock load where a cam or spring spool can slip. Manufactured by Ningbo Yishu Trading Co., Ltd. in Ningbo, China, it is specified for vehicle recovery, trailer loads, machinery transport, construction sites and any load that has to hold through braking or cornering. Available in 3 m to 10 m lengths with vinyl-coated or plain hooks.

  • Positive tooth lock — holds through braking, cornering and shock loads
  • 50 mm webbing, up to 5,000 kgf breaking strength
  • Forged steel handle and ratchet gears
  • Lengths from 3 m to 10 m for vehicle recovery and trailer work
  • Vinyl-coated hooks available to protect painted and chromed surfaces
  • OEM and ODM: webbing colour, handle colour, hooks and packaging

Samples ship in 2 business days for stock configurations; a custom webbing colour takes 7–10 days.

About this product

Why the ratchet mechanism still matters

There are three ways to hold tension in a strap, and they behave very differently under shock. A cam buckle holds by wedging the webbing against a curved surface — smooth, comfortable to operate, but it can slip if the load shocks. A spring spool holds by friction — convenient, but the spool sets the length rather than the tension. A ratchet holds by engaging teeth: a steel pawl drops between the gear teeth, and there is nothing to slide. It is the only one of the three that reliably stays locked when a vehicle brakes hard or a load shifts suddenly. That is why ratchet straps remain the standard for vehicle recovery and machinery transport, and why this series exists alongside our retractable products.

Working with an open-loop strap

Unlike the retractable series, this strap leaves the unused webbing hanging. That is a deliberate trade: an open loop can reach around a load that no enclosed housing can, and it is the reason ratchet straps are still the tool for vehicle recovery where you are lashing to a tow bar or a tree. When you do use one, secure the loose tail — wrap it around the strap body or clip it — so it cannot reach the road. Check tension after the first few kilometres, because polyester webbing settles under initial load and the ratchet usually needs a second pull.

Length selection for recovery and trailer work

For vehicle recovery, the working length is the distance from your anchor point, around the vehicle, and back to the recovery point — which is usually the shortest of the available lengths that will do the job. Over-length is not harmless: the extra webbing left in the loop reduces the effective tension you can develop before the strap runs out of travel. For trailer work, measure the bed length and add the width of whatever is crossing the tailgate, then add a metre for the turn. If your geometry is unusual, send the dimensions and we will tell you which length to order rather than let you guess.

Hardware and corrosion

The handle and ratchet body are forged steel and the pin is alloy steel — the parts that carry the load and take the hammering. Hooks are zinc-plated as standard, with a vinyl-coated option that adds a soft sleeve over the hook body without reducing its rated load. The vinyl coating is what you want when lashing to a painted wheel, a chromed bumper or a polished trailer rail, and it is mandatory for anything stored outdoors between uses. For marine work we recommend the vinyl-coated hook together with periodic freshwater rinsing.

Private label and bulk supply

This is the series most often specified as a bulk private-label item, because the shape of the market is a standard strap sold in volume to the truck accessory trade. We can produce your webbing colour, your handle colour, vinyl-coated or plain hooks, printed polybags and your own carton markings. MOQ on this series starts at 300 pieces per length, which makes it the most accessible of the six to enter with. Send a competitor sample and a target price and we will tell you honestly whether we can hit it.

Where it is used

  • Ratchet strap hooked to a pickup bed rail over a soft bag

    Pickup and truck beds

Furniture, appliances and building materials in a pickup bed, with the 2-inch webbing laid flat across the load and ratcheted home. The photographs show the self-retracting member of the same ratchet strap family.

  • Ratchet strap tensioned over a covered load in a truck bed

    Truck and van cargo

Loads that have to be reached and re-tensioned several times a day. A manual ratchet gives a positive tooth lock, so the tension stays where you set it.

  • Ratchet strap securing a spare tyre in an off-road vehicle

    Spare tyres and wheel loads

A spare tyre, a wheel rim or a motorcycle on a carrier, where the load has to be held at a firm, repeatable tension.

  • Carton secured with a strap threaded through a yellow ABS corner protector

    Cartons and pallets

Export cartons and pallet loads, where the strap runs over the load and the open loop of the manual ratchet makes the reach easy to plan.

Frequently asked questions

  • What is the actual working load?
Safe working load is one third of the rated breaking strength — roughly 1,650 kgf at 5,000 kgf breaking strength. That assumes over-the-centre lashing, which roughly doubles the restraint force at the anchor. For a load that does not need over-centre, or where the anchor is weaker than the strap, the figure is lower. Tell us your load, your anchor and your lashing pattern and we will work through it with you rather than quote you a single number that may not apply.
  • Why is there loose webbing left over?
Because this is an open-loop strap, and that is a deliberate trade. An open loop can reach around a load that no enclosed housing can, which is what makes it the right tool for vehicle recovery and for reaching across a full trailer bed. Secure the loose tail so it cannot reach the road — wrap it around the strap body or clip it.
  • Will it hold if the load shifts suddenly?
That is what distinguishes it from a cam buckle or a spring spool. The ratchet pawl sits between gear teeth with no sliding interface, so a shock load tightens the lock rather than releasing it. Keep the handle fully closed and the strap flat across the load; a strap that has been wound onto a narrow section rather than laid flat will not develop its rated capacity.
  • Which length should I order?
Measure the anchor point to anchor point, around whatever the strap crosses, and back — then take the next standard length up rather than trying to make a short strap reach. Over-length reduces the tension you can develop before the strap runs out of travel, so ordering the exact length that fits is worth more than having spare. Send us your dimensions and we will recommend one.
  • What is the MOQ on this series?
300 pieces per length, which is the lowest of our six series and makes this the most accessible to start with. Webbing colour and handle colour are made to order; stock black and standard handle ship in 2 business days.
  • Can you supply vinyl-coated hooks as standard?
Yes, and for marine, coastal and outdoor storage we recommend them as standard rather than optional. The coating does not change the hook's rated load; it protects painted, chromed and polished surfaces and slows salt ingress at the hook throat.
